From the recording Well Known Facts

A sly, blues-infused rock tune that pokes holes in our obsession with truth, reminding us that most ‘facts’ are just folklore with better PR

Lyrics

Well Known Facts

Sit down my friend; I’ll buy you a drink
There’s something that I want to discuss
The whole world is talking about telling the truth,
I don’t understand the fuss

The truth is very subjective
I hope you will back me up
Often times what we think is the truth are..
Well known facts- we just make up...(I’ll prove it)

A man robbed the bank today at 3 pm;
Four people saw the crime
When the cops arrived, they got 4 different stories
No one was sure of the time

You ask me, how that can be?
When they saw it with their own eyes
Its ‘cause in the end, the truth my friend,
Is a very elusive prize

Truth is in the eye of the beholder
Lies are usually black or white
In between lie shades of gray
Sometimes it’s hard to tell wrong from right

Me I’m sticking to the facts as I see them
I hope that you will back me up
Often times what we think is the truth,
Are well known facts we just make up

You ask me how can this be
When we see things with our own eyes
Its cause in the end the truth my friend- is a very elusive prize
